This week, the Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP) proudly hosted A-G Academic Recognition events at Ernest Righetti High School, honoring students who are on track to meet the admission requirements for California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC) campuses.
•Tuesday: 280 juniors were recognized for their academic achievements and progress toward college eligibility.
•Wednesday: 288 seniors were celebrated for meeting A-G requirements, marking a major milestone in their college journey.
In addition to the recognition ceremonies, over 100 seniors participated in the school’s first Warrior Workshop, designed to kick off the college application season with resources, guidance, and support.
"Recognizing our students for being A–G eligible was really special. It celebrates their hard work and shows them that college is truly an option,’’ said Kalynn Rivera, ERHS EAOP College Site Coordinator. “For some, this was the first time they realized they could apply to a UC and/or CSU and seeing that excitement was the best part."
The Warriors found the experiences engaging.
“The workshop definitely helped a lot of students but since I went to EAOP workshops during the summer I didn’t really have to worry about it.’’ - Alexander Reyes, 12th grade.
"Having the opportunity to help set up for the A-G eligible event was very meaningful to me,’’ said Enara Karunaratne, 11th grade. “It was exciting to be recognized with chocolate drizzled strawberries as a sweet reward for the junior’s and senior’s accomplishments."
Eleventh grader Andrea Alejandro added, “I thought the A-G recognition event this week was amazing. It was great to see so many students being acknowledged for their hard work in completing the A-G requirements. I also had fun helping set up the event because it felt good to contribute to making the celebration special for everyone. I especially enjoyed the sweet treat!"
The Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP) is a state-wide college preparatory program sponsored by the University of California. UCSB EAOP currently serves students from select schools in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Kern Counties.
